Wayfinder is an intelligent indoor navigation and spatial directory platform designed for large-scale venues, enabling interactive maps, multi-floor navigation, location discovery, route management, and digital kiosk experiences.
Wayfinder is an enterprise-focused indoor navigation and digital wayfinding platform designed to simplify navigation across complex, multi-floor environments such as malls, hospitals, airports, campuses, and other large venues.
The platform provides an interactive map management ecosystem where administrators can create and manage maps, buildings, floors, locations, paths, routes, and navigation points through a centralized management interface.
A major part of the platform is its visual map editor, which enables administrators to create and modify indoor maps, tag locations, manage navigation paths, configure vertical connections between floors, and publish map changes without rebuilding the application.
The platform also includes route and path management, location tagging, searchable directories, multi-floor navigation, and public kiosk experiences. Dedicated kiosk interfaces allow visitors to access venue maps and navigation without requiring administrative authentication.
The architecture is designed around a modern full-stack SaaS approach, with a Next.js/React frontend, FastAPI backend, PostgreSQL database, Redis caching, and MQTT-based communication for real-time device and screen updates. EMQX is used as the MQTT broker for messaging between backend services and connected devices.
The system also includes environment-aware backend infrastructure, authentication and authorization, API-driven modules, caching strategies, containerized services, and automated browser testing using Playwright.
My contribution has involved product strategy and architecture as well as full-stack engineering across the platform, including frontend architecture, map-management workflows, backend APIs, database integration, caching, kiosk experiences, real-time communication, deployment infrastructure, and testing.
